Cute yawn

Last Monday's ultrasound session captured xiaobao's yawning in the womb. He looks so cute! We can clearly see his little left hand touching his face as he yawns *awww*. Doc said he's very active! Yawned three times within 5 minutes haha :)

Today I feel very energetic. Yes more than usual. On my way to work this morning, I walked like as if I wasn't pregnant! You have to see those policemen's face in Festival walk, they must be thinking 'wow, this pregnant woman walks fast!' *chuckles*

I can't wait til all the exercise when I get back to China. All the space I want! I'll get all those exercises ready from youtube and songs to go with it. Yes I exercise better if it involves some sort of dancing ;). Chris Brown's does just the trick! Have to find more songs with similar beats, so that I can create a workout routine!

Panic over!

Have you heard of anyone gaining 5kg within a week?! That's me!! hah!

Last time we went to Kwong Wah and I weigh 86.7kg. That wasn't a good number! Doctor there told me I have to watch out. That makes me miserable for a week. As if it couldn't get any worse, in St. Paul last Monday they weigh me 91kg!!!! I saw the scale needle went south at a supersonic speed, I was like 'nooooooo, that can't be real!!!!'. The nurse wrote '201 pound' on my record so heartlessly. I am doomed......

Consulted Dr. Fong his opinion, he has no idea why I gain so much weight. He said the toughest part of pregnancy hasn't kicked in yet and I have already gained 30 pounds since! The thing is the baby only weighs 2 pounds so far, even if I take off the amniotic fluid and my clothes. It doesn't make up more than 2 kg (if that!). It means the rest of the 28 kg is me! The good thing is the baby isn't fat or anything, he's within the normal range of size and length and weight. All fit into a 26 weeks old baby. I've asked Dr. Fong that will the baby gets more weight if I gain more weight. He said it won't. Some women eat a lot and yet their baby don't gain weight. Or some other cases, women don't eat and yet the baby can be huge! It all depends on different women. In my case, the weight goes to me, not the baby. I'd prefer it that way, unless it won't be hard during delivery. Just that it'll be troublesome for me right now carrying all these weight. But I've made up my mind to lose that weight (fluid) in China! Exerciseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

Yesterday, I had a bun and a 250ml box of skimmed milk (low fat, high calcium) and that's it. Then we went walking for the entire afternoon, didn't even get round to sit down and have lunch. I got a bit peckish at around 3ish and I ate my crackers then I didn't feel hungry anymore. Met my students for dinner at 6pm so thought I won't eat anything until then. At night I weigh myself at home and I was 84.5kg! This morning I weigh myself again with the same clothes I wore to St.Paul the other night, still I was 84kg!

Dr. Fong was right, only eat when I feel hungry. If not, don't eat. And more around more. I did yesterday and see already seeing the result! This is encouraging. I shall do more wii sports too. Was doing the step aerobics, was fun heh! :)

More updates later!

Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) 17/7

OK it's been over a week now after my OGTT, so I better updated it now :) As usual let me start the story the day before...

Thursday evening I had a good dinner cos knowing I can't eat nor drink after 12pm. So I thought I'll eat all I can and drink all I want :) though guess what, I fell asleep at around 9pm! Thank god I woke at 11pm so I went and drink a cup of water. Ahhhhh heaven's nectar :)

In the morning, I have to take a sample of the first pee for the hospital for check-up. Usually after the toilet, I always like to drink a cup of water, but that morning I couldn't! >_< then I brushed my teeth. I soooooo want the water I even thought about the water in my mouth (with toothpaste) and the rest of it in my toothbrush mug!!! I knowwwww it's desperate and disgusting :) But I resisted lol

We arrived at the hospital at 8:40. Most mom-to-be where already there and took their blood test. Hubby can't go in for some reasons (maybe no space) and decrease the infection, so he has to wait outside. But unfortunately there was no seats - all occupied by other early birds husbands - so he has to sit on the floor.

At the mean time I was waiting my name to be called to do the blood test. Having said that I am use to it, I was so nervous waiting (cos it was my second time to be jabbed), no sooner my name was called (god bless me*_*). This time was a bit more painful than the first time in St. Paul, but I ride it out! The nurse told me to take a mug of that sweet drink and drink slowly. She told me to take my time because I don't wanna throw up, otherwise I'll have to re-do the test again the next day, don't really want that!

I sat down with my drink which contains 50g of glucose. I took one sip and I thought 'oh my god, yeah!!' I could soooooo drink that in one go, but I don't want to feel sick as the nurse said some women might feel differently, so I took my time. I finished my drink in 10 mintues. Ahhhhh totally enjoyed it heh. Some other women in the room were like 'arghhhhh, horrible taste!' I thought to myself 'only if I can, I can help you drink yours' lol

After the drink, we have to note down the time and wait for 2 hours before my next jab. 10:48am was my time :) during that 2 hours, I thought I'll be bored to death. I couldn't go out because we were told to be seated all these time. But luckily I wasn't too hungry though trust me I wanna eat :) I will be over 12 hours since my last meal the night before!!

Knowing me, I started talking with other mom-to-be :) heh. We exchanged information and just chit-chat the whole time. Wasn't too bored then. Apparently this year a lot of mom-to-bes are having boys. Last year was girls! *shrug*:) I checked out some women's belly. Some are small, some are big. Some are way smaller than they should be. Whereas me? I am just big lol usually wherever I go, people thought I am one more month along than I am really :P

Before my second jab, we have to go down and paid first and take the receipt up and give it to the nurse, then she'll perform the second jab. Went out and met hubby who got back from Burger King for his breakfast! At least I know where I'll be going after the jab for food :) the croissant with egg and sausage was nice!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't you want one just by looking at it:) And it's healthy!

Whilst I was waiting for my second jab, the nurse said 'for those after 11:45, my other colleague will take the test for you' - I was like 'noooooooooooo' I want that nurse. At least I know it doesn't hurt too much done by her. God knows how other nurses were like!! >_< But lucky me, she called me out after her last one. Guess she likes me alright:) haven't been so happy to go and get my jab sheesh lol.

Second jab was better than the first one :) though I know now why my left arm was bruised the first time....because I have to clench my fist tight during the jab. After the nurse finished, my fist was still clenched tight :-/ silly me! The nurse said 'loosen up now!!' too late :P But my right arm was fine.....can't even see the needle hole...told ya that nurse was good :) I make sure I was extra polite to her lol you never know in these public hospital. Some nurses can be really bitchy and fierce. Don't want one of those to take my blood test if I can avoid it :)

It was 11am after the jab, bubbly me went out to meet hubby and off to Burger King! The egg and sausage croissant was niceeeeeeeeeeeeee. Speaking about it, baby just kicked in agreement ;) definitely have my genes *lol*

As for the blood test result, if I don't get called by the coming Monday or Tuesday, it means my result is good :) since it's been over a week now, so we know I am in good condition :)

Forever :)

Nearly a month now since I last posted! Time flies so fast that you have no idea!! I know I know I always say I'll update more often, but god knows how's the time flies without you knowing :) But here we go again!!

First of all, I have to post it here a song that I've been banging here non-stop. Makes me happy listening to it and I wanna groove along with it too :P

Check the song out. It's actually on the paper today, so I went to watch it on youtube and now I am hooked!

Teachable moments

This morning on my way to work, I saw a mother dragging her son on the street towards the market. Her son was looking back at another baby girl walking away the other direction. At the time, I was wondering what the boy was looking at, but I think it's that baby girl's dangling pigtails.

The boy's mother was too buys looking towards the market to realize what her son was doing. What a waste! These are the exact teachable moments where the mother can talk to their child about what they were doing, what interests them, etc.

I hope I won't be too obsessed with my own doings and forget about observing my kid! Though I am confident that I'll be very observant (that's in my nature:), I might just talk too much. haha

Structured ultrasound

Time passes quickly, xiaobao is on lesson three now. He's still loving it and moving a lot during that 2 hours.

Had my structured ultrasound at St. Paul last Monday, I asked to see xiaobao closeup again and it's confirmed that it's a baby boy :) - Ultrasound pics will be uploaded whenever hubby decided to upload them online. We'll see... those of you who can't wait to see the pictures, just be patience. That's all I am saying :)

Baby's head is very round, he also have a very round forehead *chuckles*, everything's fine with xiaobao, head size and bone lengths and weight are all normal for a 21-week baby :-D

My feet are swelling from time to time, I don't know why I've been drinking fluid if not water but it is true that whenever I drink water, I feel very thirsty as I drank and I want more and more. However tummy size is limited, can't accommodate too much in one go...And going to toilet is yet another hassle during the night...

By the way, Cafe Tornado was closed the night we went *bugger*! Was looking forward to that chicken steak and tomato soup!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr Ah well, next time...
